This page will just be an ongoing summary of all things amigurumi that I have found useful. It will have an evolving list of the amigurumi I have made. I promise never to write about an amigurumi I have made without also linking the pattern used on my post - and hopefully they will almost always be free and easily accessible! I will also link sites I have found useful for learning about amigurumi. I don’t know how to knit and am very happy just crocheting, so I will only have crochet-relevant links.
Amigurumi References
Intro to Amigurumi
From another Amy doing amigurumi! I only found her site after I created this page – like me she can’t resist using her name to write Amygurumi. She gives a nice summary about what amigurumi is for those who want a change from wikipedia.
Amigurumi Equipment and Materials
My list and discussion of essential and decorative equipment and materials useful when making amigurumi.
Crochet Stitch Comparisons
My summary of the different names used for the same crochet stitches in US and UK/Australia.
Amigurumi Techniques
Main Techniques
Hook and Needles
This is the BEST website I have found for learning the basic and relevant crochet amigurumi techniques. Alicia has created some fantastic video tutorial guides about how to: start crocheting, crochet in the round, do various stitches, start with a magic ring, read amigurumi patterns, increase, decrease, add colour, add faces, and more. Start here at tutorial one and work your way through. I use her double ring technique for the magic circle whenever I do a circle start.
Planet June
This is another fantastic website with photographic tutorials. June demonstrates the basic amigurumi stitches and the magic ring technique for both right and left handers. She also has photographic tutorials for colour changes, fastening off, facial features, and using fuzzy yarn. Her tutorial about how to do an invisible decrease is the best around.
Assembling Amigurumi Pieces
Planet June Joining Amigurumi
Nice simple demonstration with clear photos about how to stitch your amigurumi pieces together, in particular an open-ended amigurumi piece with a closed amigurumi piece.
Crochet Me Assembling Amigurumi
Another clear, photo-filled demonstration about how to stitch together to open-ended crochet pieces (which have the same number of final stitches on each piece).

My Amigurumi
I have made a new page for my list of amigurumi and crochet projects to stop this page from getting too big! Here it is: My Crochet Projects.
This page has the following sub pages.
